Grommet Side Pants

For the first fashion project of my junior year, I decided to make a pair of pants. I wanted to make something that would push my skills and that I would want to wear. I came across this pair of pants while scrolling through Instagram and thought they were so cool. I loved how the fabric was so casual but the chain detailing made them so unique.

To make my own version of these pants took a lot of supplies and time. I purchased a basic pajama pant pattern to get the initial layout, and then I had to alter the sides of the pants so that I could incorporate the chain detailing into the sides. I purchased grommets from Joann's and had to hammer them into the sides of the pants. Then I attached the jump rings and gold chains onto the grommets on the sides of the pants. The hardest part of the pants for me to construct was the waistband. I wanted a drawstring waist so that I would be able to easily adjust them, versus the pants I saw on Instagram that had an elastic waist. The only aspect of the pants I am not happy with is that I needed that waistband to be much larger than I hoped it would be so that I could get it over my hips. But in order to have it go over my hips, it then became very large at my waist, s I will have to pull the waist in a lot when I go to wear them. But that is a small price to pay for how much I love the look of the rest of the pants.

I love the way the pants turned out and I think they will be perfect for the upcoming Winter season.
