After 29 hours in different airports, my family and I have finally arrived in New Zealand! Every day we are here we have different activities planned, like glow worm caves, boat tours through glaciers, whale watching, etc. Today is Christmas day in New Zealand because it is 19 hours ahead, and you pass the international date line when you travel here. Therefore I never got to celebrate Christmas Eve because it was in the "twilight zone" as our travel agent called it. Luckily my family got to open our Christmas gifts before we left. I got so many things I have been wishing for and am so thankful.
Today we explored Auckland and got to walk along the harbor and later head up into the city to go to Christmas mass and explore the heart of the city. My hotel room has an amazing view of the Sky Tower, New Zealand's tallest skyscraper at 1,081 ft., and it is right next to Queens Street which is similar to The Magnificent Mile in Chicago or 5th Avenue in New York City. Later we went to the top of the Sky Tower. Once you get to the top floor they have clear panels on the floor that allow you to look at the streets below. Now, I am afraid of heights, so this was a little scary but it felt very similar to the One World Trade Center in New York City that you can go to the top of, which I have previously done several times.
I wanted to wear something nice for Christmas mass while still comfortable for exploring the city. I chose a pair of white skinny jeans and white slip-on Vans. Then I had my white Chanel Wallet-on-Chain bag to create a clean and modern look to the outfit. Lastly, I had a navy and gold top from Forever 21 with lacing in the back. My family and I have only been in the country for one day and I already think it is so amazing. I love traveling and seeing new places. The atmosphere of New Zealand is so different from the United States. Everyone here is so friendly and helpful. I hope you and your loved ones enjoyed celebrating the holidays and have a great break from school or work!
